HAGERSTOWN, MD - Trick or Treat has been cancelled this year in Washington County, due to complaints that the event was "too offensive" for some residents.
A recent survey indicated that 1 out of every 150,000 Washington County residents are offended by Trick or Treat, resulting in the County Commissioners cancelling the event completely.
The final vote by the County Commissioners was 1 in favor, 0 opposed. The remaining County Commissioners either abstained from voting or were not present at the meeting.
According to one local resident who wished to remain anonymous, "I used to like Trick or Treat. But then people started dressing up as ghosts using bed sheets. I really think that makes them look like KKK members, so the whole thing should just be cancelled."
Other area residents weren't so thrilled about the event being cancelled.
"I've been trick or treating for 36 years! I've got the perfect costume too. I wear a white sheet with a cross on it, and tell people I'm actually two kids dressed up as the holy ghost! Most people just give me candy and laugh, but there's this one guy who always yells at me saying I'm a racist. I sure hope that's not why they cancelled Trick or Treat this year..."
The Washington County Commissioners were unavailable for comment.

ReplyDeleteThis is so messed up this will be my sons first trick or treat year....he is 2 and is so excited about going this year people need to suck it up and get over your taking the fun out of t for the children who enjoy it. Really hope these adults grow up and get over it instead of being immature adults.

ReplyDeleteAll these years and now we cancel trick or treat for fear of offending a few immature prunes. But it's OK to disappoint thousands of kids due to a few irrational idiots. This town has become horrible and so hypercritical in the past 3 years is becoming hard to even tolerate living here. We can't pray in public, say the pledge in schools anymore because we may offend someone now we can't take our children trick or treating. My theory is if your offended by a child in a sheet saying they look like a KKK member that makes you the racist biggot because to that baby they are just being a ghost and if anyone has a right to be offended it is the young children being accused of being racist or members of a racist cult you simple minded jack asses

I guess its acceptable to hand and knees and kiss a carpet on your front porch and smoke crack cocaine. The Washington County commissioners has no balls to stand up and say this is America. If people walk around colorblind they will see just black and white.
