South Hagerstown High School to Drop Rebels Team Name

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Long known for their "Rebels" team name, the South Hagerstown High School is about to get a new team name, thanks to political correctness.

"The Rebels lost the civil war, it's time we erase them from this history books!" claimed Principal Wilhuff Tarkin, "The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away forever!"

Some local residents were not happy about the announcement.

"I'm surprised he had the courage to take the responsibility himself." stated parent Leah Organa.

"We must keep our faith in the Republic. The day we stop believing democracy can work is the day we lose it." said local Jamillia Queen.

Principal Tarkin brushed aside the criticism, saying that the renaming of the team "is a statement, not a manifesto."

The SHHS Rebels will become the SHHS Imperials on September 31.

Now witness the power of this fully operational satire site! The Hagerstown Report is satire.

  5. Do people not read the whole article? Do they not understand what satire means? Come on people use your brain, it's fake to try to be funny. But, yes I am a 11' rebel and I am proud.

  6. This article is satire, and it is hilarious. For those in the back that missed it, satire is the use of humor or sarcasm to criticize an idea that they find to be stupid. SHHS is not changing their name. The article is making a joke. Stop getting upset without reading the line at the bottom of the article that directly states that this is satire.

  13. I didn't graduate and I didn't have the HONOR of attending my home school, SOUTH HIGH REBELS, but my family dating back to my grandmother have been rebels and I was looking forward to my daughter graduating as a REBEL... I would not be surprised if they do change it because this country is not longer ran by Americans, its ran by SNOWFLAKES....

REBEL BORN, REBEL RAISED, REBEL TILL THE END OF DAYS!!!

    SOUTH HIGH REBELS FOR LIFE!!!!

  15. I totally 'get' the impact of any Confederate symbol that is prominently displayed. It has an unsettling or worse impact on people of color. Swastikas are banned in Germany what took us so long? Any other name will do, not crazy about the name Imperials because it references what? I would like to have input on another name This is Scott Quick, I go by my first name Spencer nowadays.
